An exam percentage calculator turns the number of correct answers and the total questions into a percentage score, a letter grade and a count of mistakes — handy for marking tests and quizzes.

The maths

  • Percentage = (correct / total) × 100
  • Incorrect = total − correct

Letter grades use common bands: A (90+), B (80–89), C (70–79), D (60–69), F (below 60).

Examples

  • 42 / 50 = 84% — a B
  • 19 / 20 = 95% — an A
  • 7 / 10 = 70% — a C

Frequently asked questions

Can the bands be changed?

The bands shown are a common US-style scale. Your school or country may use different thresholds, so always check the official grading scheme.

What about partial credit?

Enter the equivalent whole number of correct questions. For weighted or partial-credit papers, convert marks to a fraction of the total first.

Just for the giggles, much love.
