Total study hours
Hours per topic

A study time calculator breaks the run-up to an exam into a realistic plan — total hours available, time per topic, and a daily schedule that builds in revision without burning out.

The maths

  • Total hours = days until exam × hours per day
  • Hours per topic = total hours / number of topics

The schedule reserves time for spaced review of earlier topics as well as covering new material.

Examples

  • 8 topics, 14 days, 3 hrs/day = 42 total hours, ~5.25 hrs per topic
  • Harder topics deserve a bigger share — rebalance manually
  • Leave the final 1–2 days for full practice papers

Frequently asked questions

How many hours per day should I study?

Quality beats quantity. Most students study effectively for 2–4 focused hours per day; beyond that, retention drops. Take regular short breaks.

Should I study every topic equally?

Use the per-topic figure as a baseline, then allocate more time to weaker or higher-weighted topics. Reserve time for active recall and past papers.

Just for the giggles, much love.
