Ideal Weight Calculator

Estimate a healthy body weight range from your height and sex using the Devine formula, and see the weight range that corresponds to a healthy BMI of 18.5–24.9.

Choose your unit system, then enter your height in cm (metric) or feet & inches (imperial). The calculator applies the Devine ideal body weight formula and a ±10% healthy band, plus the weight range for a healthy BMI (18.5–24.9).

Ideal body weight
Healthy band (low)
Healthy band (high)
Weight at BMI 18.5
Weight at BMI 24.9

An ideal weight calculator estimates a healthy weight range for your height using the well-known Devine formula, then shows the wider weight band that keeps your BMI in the healthy 18.5–24.9 range.

How it's calculated

  • Devine: men = 50 + 2.3 × (height in inches − 60); women = 45.5 + 2.3 × (height in inches − 60)
  • Healthy band = ideal ± 10%
  • BMI weight = BMI × height(m)²

These are guides, not targets — muscle mass, frame size and body composition all matter.

Examples

  • Male, 178 cm → ideal ~72.8 kg, healthy band 65.5–80.1 kg
  • Female, 165 cm → ideal ~57.0 kg, healthy band 51.3–62.7 kg
  • The BMI band is wider and less personal than the Devine estimate

Frequently asked questions

Is ideal weight the same for everyone?

No. Frame size, muscle mass and age all shift your personal healthy range. Use the figure as a starting point alongside body composition and how you feel.

Which result should I trust?

The Devine estimate targets a mid-range build. The BMI band is a population-level screen. For a personal target, combine them with waist measurement and body fat percentage.

Just for the giggles, much love.
